Dr. Victor J. Mazza, Director of Cardiology & Electrophysiology, was born and raised in Nutley, New Jersey. He has been practicing Cardiology and Electrophysiology since 2010.
He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular disease, and Electrophysiology. He received his medical degree from Saint George’s University School of Medicine. Dr. Mazza completed his Internal Medicine residency, Chief residency and Cardiology Fellowship at
Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. His second fellowship, in Electrophysiology, was completed at Temple University in Philadelphia.
His dual fellowships and advanced training, allow him to take care of and manage patients covering the full spectrum of cardiac conditions - general cardiology and electrophysiology (see
list of common disorders below). He has received numerous honors and awards. 2006- Arnold P. Gold Foundation Award for
Humanism, as well as being selected as one of New Jersey’s and Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors. He has given oral presentations and poster presentations at local and National conferences and has authored and co-authored numerous articles in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Mazza performs numerous hospital- based procedures and surgeries (see list below). He has a strong passion for office- based management as well. He provides a warm and friendly environment and makes each patient feel like they are his only patient of the day. He holds a firm belief in patient education and their right to understand their diagnosis and available treatment options. This fosters a team approach, shared decision making, leading to a focused,
goal directed, management plan.
Dr. Mazza’s, main focus is preventative medicine. He is dedicated to promoting heart healthy nutrition and an easy, consistent, and productive exercise regimen. Early diagnosis of cardiovascular risk factors, such as obesity, high blood pressure and high cholesterol will lead to early treatment strategies to help prevent future cardiac related conditions and comorbidities.
General Cardiology conditions: Hypertension, Elevated cholesterol, Coronary artery disease, Heart failure, Peripheral Artery Disease, Carotid Artery Disease, Venous Disease and he is able to
provide pre surgical cardiac risk assessment (Cardiac clearance).
Electrophysiology Conditions: Cardiac arrhythmias (Atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, PVCs (premature ventricular contractions), Cardiac rhythm devices (in office and remote interrogation), Palpitations, Syncope (Passing Out), POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) as well as the genetic arrhythmia abnormalities -Long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy and
Catecholaminergic Ventricular Tachycardia.
Hospital based procedures: Cardiac rhythm device implantation: Pacemakers (Leadless, transvenous), Defibrillators (transvenous, subcutaneous), Biventricular devices, Loop recorders,
Tilt table test, Electrophysiology studies, Ablation of cardiac arrhythmias.
