Dina Abukharma APN is a Board Certified Acute Care Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. She completed her nursing degree at Holy Name School of Nursing. After completion of that program she proceeded to achieve her Bachelor’s Science of Nursing degree at Chamberlain University. She has over 7 years experience as a Registered Nurse working primarily in the cardiac step-down units, ICU, and Cardio-Thoracic ICU in Hackensack Medical Center. During this time, she advanced her education to obtain her Master’s Degree in Acute Care Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner through Seton Hall University.
Dina's passion for cardiology led her to begin her NP career in the Heart Failure program at Morristown Medical Center. Dina has a strong passion for acute and chronic cardiac disease prevention and processes. She has a vast understanding of acute care/cardiogenic shock management with mechanical circulatory devices including: ECMO, Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon pump, and Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD).
Dina also developed a robust understanding of the management and care of patients with chronic cardiac devices including pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy devices (CRT), Cardiac Contractility Modulation (CCM-Optimizer), and CardioMEMS (Pulmonary Artery Sensor). Her experience with advanced heart failure therapies and critical care has enhanced her commitment to collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals.
Dina's goal is to be a key educator, helping patients understand their conditions, create lifestyle changes, and build a rapport with patients to improve cardiac care and improve patient outcomes.
